Born and Raised in South East Queensland, Dr Smith completed undergraduate studies and medical school in Brisbane, Queensland. After some experience as a resident and later dabbling in Intensive Care training, Dr Smith also completed his anaesthetic training (including a fellowship in major GI anaesthesia) at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

Dr Smith enjoys most areas of clinical anaesthesia but has special interest in major GI, trauma, colorectal, bariatric, obstetric and regional anaesthesia. He is interested in clinical research and medical education and is a Conjoint Lecturer for the UNSW Rural Clinical School. He is the anaesthetic research lead at Albury-Wodonga Health and part of the hospital Environmental and Sustainability groups.

Proud partner and father of three amazing daughters. He enjoys real estate and financial education, horse riding, music, a good scotch, and bingeing on Netflix series.
