Pain Relief For Labour

What are the options?

You and your partner have waited a long time for the birth of your baby.

Labour is hard work, often very painful and can take quite a while.

Depending on your personal circumstances and progression of your labour, there may be a range of natural, non-medical and medical options to help during this stage.

Anaesthetists are medical specialists trained in medical pain management and work closely with the obstetric and midwifery team.  One of the ways they can help you is by placing an epidural catheter to provide very safe and effective pain relief for labour and delivery.

See the links below for more information regarding pain relief options and further information about epidurals.
